A Half Day at Seogwipo Recreational Forest on a Rest Day: Forest Trails at 700 m and the Lookout

On a day of your Jeju golf trip without a round, or a morning left free, think of Seogwipo Recreational Forest if you want to walk in the woods on the Seogwipo side. VisitJeju describes it as a natural recreational forest that keeps artificial planting to a minimum and preserves the character of Jeju's mountains and forests as they are. It sits 700 m above sea level, and VisitJeju notes that the temperature differs from downtown Seogwipo by about 10°C. Here are the entry times, footwear rules and campsite rules, based on VisitJeju's information.
A half day without a round, at a glance
This is an example half day setting out from accommodation on the Seogwipo side on a day without a round. Plan the order backwards from the entry deadline and you can walk without rushing.
- The road up to the forest: look down over Seogwipo and the sea where the road bends
- The forest trails: walk slowly along the wooden decks and forest paths
- The lookout: take in Seogwipo and the sea at a glance
- Entry is until 17:00, so if you set out late in the afternoon, check your arrival time first

The road up into a forest at 700 m
Seogwipo Recreational Forest lies 700 m above sea level. VisitJeju says the temperature inside the forest differs from downtown Seogwipo by about 10°C, and that from spring to autumn it is less affected by the seasons, so you can enjoy forest bathing, walks and camping. If you packed for the weather in town, bring one more layer.
From the foot of the mountain you climb to the forest along a well-made road. On the way up you can see exotic tree species that are hard to find elsewhere, and VisitJeju notes that at each bend in the road you can look down over Seogwipo and the sea spread out below. When you stop the car, first make sure it is a safe place to do so.

Walking slowly on the forest trails
Once you enter the forest, green trees fill every direction and the foliage is dense. VisitJeju says that if you take off your shoes and walk barefoot along the path you will notice a fragrant, cool scent, and explains that this scent is phytoncide, given off by plants for its sterilising and insect-repelling effect.
As a natural forest, it is also home to many kinds of wild plants and animals. VisitJeju notes that along the trails you may come across roe deer or squirrels. If you meet an animal, don't approach it; pass by quietly.

Seogwipo and the sea from the lookout
VisitJeju says that when you circle through the forest and climb to the lookout, Seogwipo and the open sea come into view at a glance. It is a chance to look down again from up high on the sea you saw during your round, so it fits well at the end of a visit to the forest.
What to know before using the forest campsite
Camping can be booked on the Supnadeuri-e website. Wooden decks have been installed along the cypress and cedar forest paths so you can pitch a tent on them, and VisitJeju notes that the decks are well spaced and that you can move your gear with handcarts nearby.
Cooking is allowed only within the campground, and charcoal and LPG gas cylinders may not be brought in. A notice issued by Seogwipo Recreational Forest on April 16, 2026 states that work to improve the campground access decks was completed ahead of schedule and that the campground is available from May 1, 2026. If you plan to camp, check the latest notices and reservation availability before booking.
