An Evening Walk in Seogwipo After Your Round: Cheonjiyeon Falls at Night, Saeyeongyo Bridge and Saeseom Island

Here is an example of an evening in downtown Seogwipo after you finish your round and stop by your accommodation. Feel free to change the order to suit where you are staying and when you plan to eat.

1. Walk the Cheonjiyeon Falls trail to the waterfall. Plan your timing around the 21:20 last entry.
2. Cross Saeyeongyo Bridge and walk the Saeseom Island trail. Check the bridge's lighting hours by phone.
3. Choose dinner and souvenirs at Seogwipo Maeil Olle Market. Each shop closes at a different time.

Cheonjiyeon Falls is a waterfall at the end of a walking trail. VisitJeju gives the height of the falls as 22 m and the depth of the pool beneath as 20 m, and says the trail is laid with basalt, so people of all ages can walk it comfortably. According to VisitJeju, the Elaeocarpus sylvestris trees and the warm-temperate forest around the falls are designated natural monuments, and Cheonjiyeon Falls itself was designated a natural monument because it marks the northern limit of the giant mottled eel's habitat range.

VisitJeju's visitor information for Cheonjiyeon Falls lists viewing hours of 9:00–22:00 and last entry at 21:20. Night viewing can be halted depending on circumstances, however. Seogwipo City suspended night opening at Cheonjiyeon Falls from September 27 to 30, 2026 for safety reasons, and announced the resumption of night opening on October 1. If you plan to drop by in the evening, check on the day of your visit whether it is open, through Seogwipo City notices or the Cheonjiyeon Falls inquiry line (064-733-1528).

Saeyeongyo Bridge links Seogwipo Port and Saeseom Island, and it is a footbridge closed to vehicles. Around the bridge are a pedestrian promenade, the Saeseom Island trail and music benches, and it is part of Jeju Olle Trail Route 6. VisitJeju notes that the bridge has lighting hours and asks visitors to call for details (064-760-3471).

Saeseom is an uninhabited island just off Seogwipo Port, and it became easy to visit after Saeyeongyo Bridge opened in 2009. It has a 1.2 km walking trail, a plaza, a wooden boardwalk, a gravel path and a forest trail, and from the path you can see Beomseom, Munseom and Seopseom islands. VisitJeju lists Saeseom as open year-round.

Seogwipo Maeil Olle Market is a traditional market in the center of Seogwipo. VisitJeju describes it as a place to find Jeju specialties such as omegi rice cakes, tangerines, Hallabong citrus, red tilefish, silver hairtail and black pork. Listed amenities include a public parking lot, restrooms and free Wi-Fi.

VisitJeju lists the market as open year-round, while noting that opening hours vary by shop. If you plan to stop by late in the evening, check first that the shop you want to visit is open.

On days of strong wind and rain, it is better not to push yourself on the bridge over the sea and the island trail, and instead to wrap up the evening with a meal near your accommodation. Night opening at Cheonjiyeon Falls has also been suspended before for safety reasons, so when the weather is bad, check whether it is operating before you set out.
