The Southernmost Yellowtail Festival, starting with last year's dates
According to a Jeju provincial government press release, last year (2025) the 25th Southernmost Yellowtail Festival opened on November 20 around Moseulpo Port in Daejeong-eup, Seogwipo, under the theme 'a feast of the joy, style and taste of the clean sea', and ran for 4 days until November 23. The opening ceremony was held at 5 p.m. on the 20th at the festival site in Moseulpo Port.
The press release introduced it as a seafood festival where you can taste the flavour of yellowtail caught in Jeju's clean waters and experience Jeju's sea culture, and said it is hosted and organised by the Southernmost Yellowtail Festival Committee.
This article does not give this year's dates or programme. Before you plan your rounds, please check this year's dates in the notices of the Southernmost Yellowtail Festival Committee.

What kind of place is Moseulpo Port, where the festival is held?
VisitJeju describes Moseulpo Port as the end of Jeju Olle Route 10 and the start of Route 11, a major port of south-western Jeju and the southernmost fishing base. It notes that the port was designated a Class 1 fishing port (now a national fishing port) in 1971.
The place name Moseulpo is said to come from 'Mosalgae', meaning 'a harbour with sand'. VisitJeju explains that it began as the name for the coast of Sangmo-ri and Hamo-ri in Daejeong-eup, where strong winds built up coastal sand dunes.

The yellowtail fishing ground off Moseulpo
According to VisitJeju, yellowtail, tilefish, damselfish and many other fish live in the waters between Moseulpo Port and the sea south of Marado, and a yellowtail fishing ground forms around Marado from October to February. It also notes that the winds and currents there are strong.
According to the ferry operators, boats to Marado and Gapado leave not from Moseulpo Port, where the festival is held, but from Unjin Port (Moseulpo South Port), and boats to Marado also leave from Songaksan Port. If you plan to visit an island on a day without a round, check separately before you set out which port you leave from, whether the boats are running and at what times.
